forthcoming productions The NCT has a long and rich theatrical history. Since its founding by artistic director Joyce Levinsohn in 1989, the NCT has staged nearly 100 musical productions and has given thousands of performances to literally tens of thousands of people throughout the country. What once began as a theatrical touring troupe to schools, libraries and senior centres, is now housed in one of Johannesburg most visited heritage sites, in Parktown. We are proud of our many accomplishments over the past two decades, and look forward to continuing the NCT's mission of providing quality family-oriented shows long into the future. Four times a year, the NCT presents plays based on well-known classics. These inter-active tales delight, enchant and entertain, introducing children, their teachers and parents to the wonder and excitement of theatre. The NCT finds subjects and stories that matter to young people, and brings them to life in a relevant and immediate way, thereby creating an unforgettable theatrical experience. The NCT's calendar is always marked by a diversity of style and substance. NCT's productions will transport children and families to new worlds. The season will bring the best theatre to our audiences - new works as well as old favourites. These plays will launch families into landscapes of mystery and magic that TV and video games can only hint at. The NCT has built up incredible audiences who have laughed, cried and cheered in praise of the plays they have seen. Note: In order to give the community the opportunity of experiencing the drama, excitement and educational value of productions, the NCT also tours certain of its productions to schools. |
