Awards - Joyce Levinsohn


Joyce Levinsohn, Artistic Director and founder of the NCT pictured receiving her TMSA Life Time Achievement Award at the prestigious Naledi Theatre Awards Ceremony this week. On the same night Joyce won a further Naledi Award for her innovative adaptation and stage production of the beloved children's classic, 'Charlotte's Web'.
1989/1990 - Vita Award - for her "contribution to the growth of quality children's theatre, and helping to build theatre audiences of the future."

2000/2001 - The Arts & Culture Trust Lifetime Achievement Award

Levinsohn was honoured "for her dedication and positive contribution to the development of excellence in children's theatre through the use of the arts, storytelling and music. By fostering a culture of art appreciation, language and literature amongst the youth, Levinsohn has helped to build the theatre audiences of the future, and has become synonymous with the staging of children's productions in South Africa".

2004 - Runner up in the Shoprite Checkers Woman of the Year Awards

2005 - Naledi Award bestowed for Levinsohn's innovative adaptation and stage production of the beloved children's classic, 'Charlotte's Web' by American writer E.B.White, staged during 2004.

2005 - TMSA Life Time Achievement Award

2005 - NCTT together with the Maverick Group was awarded the IPRA GOLDEN WORLD AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE in Public Relations in the Arts category

2005 - NCTT was a finalist in the Arts & Culture Trust Awards for Arts Education Projects
